We collect you from your accommodation, from Termini station or from an agreed point. The historic centre has a limited traffic zone: where we cannot drive in, we agree a meeting point a few steps away in advance, rather than leaving you to work it out with your suitcases.
The journey from Rome to Herculaneum covers about 222 km and takes about 2 hours 40 minutes, mostly on motorway and main roads. It is a comfortable, straightforward leg: you leave when you decide, with no changes and no waiting for connections.
Between Rome and Herculaneum the car is yours for the whole leg: luggage stays on board, and if you want to stop for a photo where the view opens up, you just say so. There is no extra charge for a short stop along the way — it is the difference between a transfer and a shuttle.
We drop you in front of the Corso Resina entrance, metres from the excavation ticket office, or at your accommodation. On request we can wait during your visit and then continue on to Vesuvius or Pompeii.
Herculaneum holds the best-preserved Roman town in Italy: smaller than Pompeii but with timber, fabric and upper floors still intact, sealed under eighteen metres of volcanic mud. The road up to the Great Cone of Vesuvius also starts here.
